Joanne Rogers
Sara Joanne Byrd (March 9, 1928 – January 14, 2021) was an American musician who was the wife of television host and minister Fred Rogers. Biography Sara Joanne Byrd was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Wyatt Adolphus Byrd, a coffee salesman who later worked for the United States Postal Service and Ebra Edwards Byrd, a housewife who shared her love of music. Joanne liked to play ragtime on the piano, and did so playing by ear, by ear. She began taking piano lessons at the age of 5. She studied music at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance. It was also there that she met her future husband, Fred Rogers. She went on to earn a master's degree in music at Florida State University. She studied with Hungarian composer and conductor Ernst von Dohnányi. In 1952, she and Rogers married. ''Mister Rogers' Neighborhood'' (sometimes shortened to ''Mister Rogers'') is an American half-hour educational children's television series that ran from 1968 to 2001. It was created and hosted by Fred Rogers. Its original incarnation, the series ''Misterogers'' debuted in Canada on October 15, 1962, on CBC Television. In 1966, Rogers moved back to the United States creating ''Misterogers' Neighborhood'' (sometimes shown as ''MisteRogers' Neighborhood''), later called ''Mister Rogers' Neighborhood'', on the regional Eastern Educational Television Network (EETN, a forerunner of today's American Public Television). ''Children's Corner'', L. 113, is a six-movement suite for solo piano by Claude Debussy. It was published by Durand in 1908, and was first performed by Harold Bauer in Paris on 18 December that year. In 1911, an orchestration by André Caplet was premiered and subsequently published. History Debussy composed ''Children's Corner'' between 1906 and 1908. He dedicated the suite to his daughter, Claude-Emma (known as "Chou-Chou"), who was born on 30 October 1905 in Paris. She is described as a lively and friendly child who was adored by her father. She was three years old when he dedicated the suite to her in 1908. The dedication reads: "A ma chère petite Chouchou, avec les tendres excuses de son Père pour ce qui va suivre. C. D."
