Joani Blank
Joani Blank (July 4, 1937 – August 6, 2016) was an American sex educator, entrepreneur, author, videographer, cohousing enthusiast, philanthropist, and inventor in the field of human sexuality, sexuality. She used publishing, her sex store, and other endeavors to promote sex-positive feminism. Her papers are part of the Human Sexuality Collection at Cornell University Library. Career Blank founded Down There Press, a publisher of sex-positive-related books, in 1975. In 1977, she opened Good Vibrations (sex shop), Good Vibrations, the second feminist sex toy business in the United States (the first having been Eve's Garden in New York City, which was founded by Dell Williams in 1974). The idea to create Good Vibrations stemmed from her work with sex therapist Lonnie Barbach, in which the pair worked with women who had difficulty reaching orgasm. Joani Tremblay (born 1984) is a Canadian painter living and working in Pioneertown, California and Montreal, Quebec. Tremblay has exhibited internationally at venues including James Cohan Gallery, New York; Harper's, New York and Los Angeles; Marie-Laure Fleisch Gallery, Brussels; The Pit, Los Angeles, CA; Pangée, Montreal; 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo; and others. Joani Tremblay investigates the perception of place through oil painting. Tremblay paints from a constructed idea of place assembling images from a variety of sources, including advertisements, social media, and field research. Joani Reid is a Scottish Labour Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Kilbride and Strathaven since July 2024.
