Joan Massià
Joan Massià i Prats (Barcelona, 22 February 1890 – 11 June 1969) was a Catalan composer and violinist. His first wife was the pianist and student of d'Indy, Blanche Selva (1884–1942), with whom Massià recorded the Franck violin sonata and other works. After her death he remarried; his second wife was the Spanish pianist María Carbonell (1911–1988). Blanche Selva
Marie Blanche Selva (Catalan ''Blanca Selva i Henry'', 29 January 18843 December 1942) was a French pianist, music educator, writer and composer of Spanish origin. Biography Blanche Selva was born in Brive-la-Gaillarde in Corrèze. As a child she studied piano with a number of teachers, took preparatory classes with Sophie Chéné, and was admitted to the Paris Conservatory in 1893. She studied with S. Chéné and won a medal in competition, but left the Conservatory without graduating. Her family moved to Geneva, and Selva began giving concerts at the age of 13 in Lausanne. She studied with Vincent d'Indy, and became a professor at the Schola Cantorum de Paris in December 1901, later taking positions at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg, the École Normale de Musique in Paris, and the Prague Conservatory. Manfred Kelkel
Manfred Kelkel (15 January 1929 – 18 April 1999) was a 20th-century French musicologist and composer of contemporary music. A pupil of Darius Milhaud at the Conservatoire de Paris, he got interested in the music of Russian composer Alexander Scriabin, whose latest works (from '' Prometheus: The Poem of Fire to Mysterium'') influenced his own compositions. His work on Scriabin and a certain esoteric aesthetic of music are authoritative. Tomàs Garcés
Tomàs Garcés i Miravet (; 9 October 1901 – 16 November 1993, Barcelona) was a Catalan poet and lawyer. Garcés was born in Barcelona. He studied law, philosophy, and literature at the University of Barcelona. At the time of the Spanish Civil War Garcés fled to France where he was a teacher of Spanish language in the University of Toulouse. He returned to Catalonia in 1947. Tomas was called "The Catalan poet of song" for his short regular verses. José Carreras
Josep Maria Carreras Coll (; born 5 December 1946), better known as José Carreras (, ), is a Catalan operatic tenor from Spain who is particularly known for his performances in the operas of Donizetti, Verdi and Puccini. Born in Barcelona, he made his debut on the operatic stage at 11 as Trujamán in Manuel de Falla's '' El retablo de Maese Pedro'', and went on to a career that encompassed over 60 roles, performing in the world's leading opera houses and on numerous recordings. He gained fame with a wider audience as one of the Three Tenors, with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, in a series of large concerts from 1990 to 2003. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation.
