Joan Buchanan
Joan T. Buchanan (born October 4, 1952) is an American politician and former Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party public official and former school board member from Alamo, California. She was a member of the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2014. Pre-political career Buchanan attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in economics in 1973. Before the age of 30, she retired from the private sector, after obtaining the position of Director of Commercial Operations at Delta Dental. While raising her five children locally, Buchanan served for 20 years on the San Ramon Valley School Board, including 4 terms as president. Buchanan's budgeting and organizational development led to SRVUSD being ranked among the top 5% of all school districts in California. Over 94% of the district's graduating seniors attend college. Steven Mitchell Glazer (born August 10, 1957) is an American politician and former political advisor who is a former member of the California State Senate from the 7th Senate District, which includes most of Contra Costa County and eastern portions of Alameda County in the East Bay. Glazer was appointed by Jerry Brown in 2011 to serve as a member of the California State University Board of Trustees until 2015, when he was elected to the State Senate.
