Joachim Kelly
Joachim Kelly (born 2 December 1955) is an Irish List of hurling managers, hurling manager, former Hurling, hurling player and a former Manager (Gaelic games), manager of the Offaly senior hurling team. Kelly played for club side Lusmagh GAA, Lusmagh and was a member of the Offaly senior hurling team for 19 seasons, during which time he usually lined out at midfield. Kelly began his hurling career at club level with Lusmagh GAA, Lusmagh. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 15-year-old in 1971 and enjoyed his first success in 1973 when his club won the Offaly Junior A Hurling Championship, Offaly Junior Championship. Kelly later won an Offaly Senior Hurling Championship, Offaly Senior Championship medal in 1989 when Lusmagh GAA, Lusmagh won their title. He ended his club career with the Lusmagh GAA, Lusmagh junior B in 2003. All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest-tier competition for inter-county hurling in Ireland and has been contested in every year except one since 1887 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 1887. The final, formerly held in September, then August and now moved to July, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Portumna GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Portumna, County Galway, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Galway County Board and is exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in the town of Portumna, on the Galway- Tipperary border, Portumna GAA Club was established in 1888. The club initially focusses on the game of Gaelic football, with hurling first being played in 1910. Portumna had their first success when, in 1914, the club captured the Galway JHC title. Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA
Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Kilcormac, County Offaly, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Gaelic games have been played in the Kilcormac area since the St Cormacs club, often referred to as Frankford, was affiliated to the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The Kilcormac club first joined with Killoughey in 1970 and were known collectively as Na Piarsaigh. The adult section of the Na Piarsaigh club separated in 1981 but they remained together at underage level. They rejoined at all levels in 1986 when the Kilcormac–Killoughey GAA Club was formed. Loughmore–Castleiney GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Tipperary, Ireland. The club competes in the Mid-Tipperary division of Tipperary GAA, and draws its players and support from the parish of the same name. The area comprises the villages of Loughmore and Castleiney with their surrounding hinterland. 1979 Railway Cup Hurling Championship
The 1979 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 53rd staging of the Railway Cup since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1927. The cup began on 11 March 1979 and ended on 1 April 1979. Munster were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Connacht in the semi-final. On 1 April 1979, Leinster won the cup following a 1-13 to 1-09 defeat of Connacht in the final. This was their 18th Railway Cup title overall and their first title since 1977. The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling. Additionally, one player in each code is selected as Player of the Year. The awards were instituted in 1971. Since 2011 they have been presented jointly by the Gaelic Athletic Association and the representative body for inter-county players, the Gaelic Players Association. This is a list of all the past winners of the official GAA GPA All Stars Awards in hurling since the first awards in 1971. As an insight to the prominent players of the 1960s, it also includes the unofficial "Cuchulainn" awards presented from 1963 to 1967 under the auspices of ''Gaelic Weekly'' magazine. Since All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1971, 1971, the All Stars Awards in hurling have been presented annually to a set of fifteen Hurling, hurlers from that year's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, who are seen to be deserving of being named in a "Team of the Year".
