Jiri
Jiri () is a municipality in Dolakha District in the Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 13,638 people. Jiri, which lies about 190 kilometers from Kathmandu, is the main gateway to the Everest Region. Almost all the Everest expeditions, including the one led by famous climber John Hunt, Edmund Hillary had passed through Jiri. A company of the Nepal Army is stationed in town and visitors' equipment and backpacks might be searched. There are a number of lodges available along either side of the main road mainly in Jiri Bazaar. There are two government high schools namely Jiri Higher Secondary School at Hatanda and Dhungeshwori Secondary School at Jiri Bazaar. One private boarding school called JEM Academy, two community schools namely Martyrs Memorial School and Saraswoti Community School. Jiri Koski
Jiri Koski (born 20 May 1995) is a Finnish professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper for Veikkausliiga side KTP. Club career Koski debuted in Veikkausliiga with HJK Helsinki on 17 October 2016, in a 3–1 win against Ilves. Since 2021, Koski has played for IF Gnistan in second-tier Ykkönen, and was the team captain in the 2023 season. On 19 May 2024, he made his first Gnistan appearance in the highest level, and only his second-ever appearance in Veikkausliiga, keeping a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw against Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS). Koski returned to KTP for the 2025 Veikkausliiga season. Jairos Jiri
Jairos Jiri MBE (26 June 1921 – 12 November 1982) was born in the district of Bikita, then Southern Rhodesia now Zimbabwe. He was also known respectfully as ''Baba'', which means Father in his Shona culture. History Baba Jiri was born in 1926. In the early days of his childhood, he had a dream of helping disabled people. These dreams were motivated by his family background. His father, Chief Mutenyami Jiri was an Appointer of Rozvi Chiefs. The Rozvi Empire ruled the Shona Dzimbabwe (now Zimbabwe) until the death of the last Shona King Tohwechipi Chibhamubhamu in Uhera (now Buhera) in 1873. He is buried in the Mavangwe Hills and his grave is a national monument. As Royal people, people like Chief Mutenyami would not only appoint chiefs but provide social services in the community like feeding the hungry. His mother, Mai Marufu came from a royal family too and was charitable as was expected of her role. Mai Marufu was the daughter of the sub-chief Mazimba of Gutu. As expected of ...
