Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a Yard (land), yard or on a beach; professional games are played on a rectangular indoor court. The 2009 African Badminton Championships were the continental badminton championships to crown the best players and teams across Africa. The tournament was held at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, from 17 to 24 April 2009. In the semi-finals of the team event, South Africa defeated Mauritius 3–1 while Seychelles defeated Egypt 3–0 to reach the final. Dorian Lance James (born 19 June 1981) is a male badminton player from South Africa. James competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's doubles with partner Stewart Carson.
