Jinichi Nagumo
Jinichi Nagumo (南雲仁一, 1926 -- March 10, 1999) was a professor at the University of Tokyo, known for his contributions to nonlinear dynamics, mathematical modeling of neural systems, nonlinear oscillation, and engineering. The FitzHugh–Nagumo model for neuron dynamics is named after him and Richard FitzHugh Richard is a male given name. The University of Tokyo (, abbreviated as in Japanese and UTokyo in English) is a public research university in Bunkyō, Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1877 as the nation's first modern university by the merger of several pre-westernisation era institutions, its direct precursors include the '' Tenmongata'', founded in 1684, and the Shōheizaka Institute. Although established under its current name, the university was renamed in 1886 and was further retitled to distinguish it from other Imperial Universities established later. Oscillation is the repetitive or periodic variation, typically in time, of some measure about a central value (often a point of equilibrium) or between two or more different states.
