Jin Xie
Xie Jin (; 21 November 1923 – 18 October 2008) was a Chinese film director. He rose to prominence in 1957, directing the film ''Woman Basketball Player No. 5'', and is considered one of the Third Generation directors of China. Most recently he was known for the direction of '' The Opium War'' (1997). Xie was a popular director amongst the older generations of Chinese, with six of his films being voted Best Picture in the Hundred Flowers Awards. He was the only Chinese director to date to be a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as well as the Directors Guild of America. Biography Xie was born in Shangyu, Zhejiang Province. He spent his childhood in his hometown, and attended primary school for one year there. Jiao Juyin
Jiao Juyin (; 11 December 1905 – 28 February 1975) was a Chinese director, translator, and theater theorist. He was born in Tianjin on December 11, 1905. His original name was Jiao Chengzhi (焦承志), and also used several pen names such as Juying 居颖, Juyin 居尹 and Liangchou 亮俦. He used Juying (菊影) as stage name, and later changed it into Juyin 菊隐. Biography Jiao was very poor when he was young, and had to do a lot of work while to maintain studying. At the early 1920th, he organised a literary society named the "Green Waves Society". In 1928 he and Xiong Foxi organized a performance of ''The Cricket'', that offended a warlord, made him wanted. Hong Shen
Hong Shen (; 31 December 1894 – 29 August 1955) was a Chinese playwright, film director and screenwriter, film and drama theorist, and educator. He is considered by drama historians as one of the three founders of the modern Chinese spoken drama, together with Tian Han and Ouyang Yuqian. He wrote the first Chinese film script, ''Mrs. Shentu''. Early life and education Hong Shen was born in Wujin, Jiangsu Province, Qing Empire on 31 December 1894. After attending secondary schools in Shanghai and Tianjin, he entered the newly founded Tsinghua School (now Tsinghua University) in 1912, and graduated in 1916. Cao Yu (playwright)
Cao Yu (, September 24, 1910 – December 13, 1996) was a Chinese playwright, often regarded as one of China's most important playwrights of the 20th century. His best-known works are ''Thunderstorm'' (1933), ''Sunrise'' (1936) and ''Peking Man'' (1940). It is largely through the efforts of Cao Yu that the modern Chinese "spoken theatre" took root in 20th century Chinese literature. Sichuan is a province in Southwestern China, occupying the Sichuan Basin and Tibetan Plateau—between the Jinsha River to the west, the Daba Mountains to the north, and the Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau to the south. Huang Zuolin
Huang Zuolin (; October 24, 1906 – June 1, 1994) was a Chinese film director. Life Huang Zuolin whose ancestral home was at Panyu, Guangdong Province, was born in Tianjin. He graduated from Tientsin Anglo-Chinese College in 1925. During the period of 1925 to 1929, he studied business in University of Birmingham and lived in Linxi College located in the suburbs. At the party organized by the students of this college, Huang Zuolin performed the one-act play, East and West, which was written and directed by himself.
