Jimwell Torion
Jimwell Torion (born March 13, 1973) is a former Filipino professional basketball player in the PBA from 2000 to 2007. Career After his college career with Salazar Institute of Technology in Cebu City, Torion was brought in by Photokina Marketing when it joined the amateur Philippine Basketball League (PBL) as Agfa Color (and later Red Bull). When Red Bull joined the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in the 2000 season, the team brought Torion in to PBA directly from the amateur PBL, along with Kerby Raymundo, Lordy Tugade, Junthy Valenzuela, Davonn Harp, and Bernard Tanpua. He became the starting point guard for the team, until Willie Miller came along. His career was notable for the numerous fines and suspensions he had because of various violations, and in 2003, he was suspended indefinitely (later reduced to eight months) by then PBA Commissioner Noli Eala after he was tested positive for an illegal substance in a random test. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Generally, point guards are expected to be proficient in passing the ball and being able to get Assist (basketball), assists to teammates. In a pick and roll offense, the point guard typically moves off of screens to facilitate the ball to a Power forward, big. Likewise, point guards can also shoot off of screens if given separation. Lordy Tugade
Lordy Tugade (born December 30, 1977, in Alaminos, Pangasinan) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player. He last played for the Powerade Tigers in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as the Alaminos Assassin for his three-point shooting, he played for the NU Bulldogs in the UAAP and the Red Bull Barako both in their PBL and PBA stints before being traded to San Miguel in October 2006. Early life Tugade grew up as the fourth of six children, and the eldest son of his family. Growing up, he played volleyball as he developed his leaping ability and grew taller. Noli Eala
Jose Emmanuel "Noli" Macasaet Eala is a Filipino sports executive and disbarred lawyer who served as the 11th chairperson of the Philippine Sports Commission from August 30 to December 28, 2022. He previously served as the sixth commissioner of the Philippine Basketball Association from 2003 to 2007. Before he became the commissioner of the league, he was a play-by-play commentator of Viva-Vintage Sports, which broadcasts the PBA Games, from the early 1990s until 2002. Willie Miller (basketball)
Willie V. Miller Jr. (born July 13, 1977) is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former player. He is an assistant coach for the Converge FiberXers of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He last played for the Pilipinas MX3 Kings of the ASEAN Basketball League. He has started at the point guard position mostly but could also play the shooting guard spot. Miller has won four PBA championships and two PBA Most Valuable Player Awards. Miller played college basketball for Letran, where he was highly promoted in the national media as a future PBA superstar. After graduating, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2001 PBA draft by the Thunder.
