Jimmy Mulroy
James Mulroy (1 August 1940 – 12 February 2013) was an Irish Gaelic footballer, manager and politician. He played as a right wing-forward for the Louth senior football team and captained the side for several years during the Sixties. Mulroy made his first appearance for the team during the 1959 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1972 championship. He was part of the county panel that reached the final of the Leinster Senior Football Championship in 1960, losing by one point to Offaly. In 1964, he was selected by Leinster and lined out for his province at right half-back in that year's Railway Cup final against Ulster. He appeared in a second inter-provincial final in 1972 against Munster. At club level Mulroy had a lengthy career with Newtown Blues, winning nine county championship medals. Seanad Éireann ( ; ; "Senate of Ireland") is the senate of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (defined as the house of representatives). Louth (Dáil Constituency)
Louth is a parliamentary constituency represented in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament or Oireachtas. The constituency elects five deputies ( Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) on the system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote (PR-STV). It covers the entirety of County Louth and a small area of County Meath. Boundaries The constituency was created by the Electoral Act 1923, and first used at the 1923 general election. The Louth Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition, organised by Louth GAA, among the intermediate grade Gaelic football clubs in County Louth, Ireland. History The competition, introduced as a bridge between the senior and junior grades, was first staged in 1907 and annually until 1912, when the county board discontinued it. It was revived 32 years later in 1944. However, the competition was only staged twice before it lapsed again. Oliver Plunketts GFC
Oliver Plunketts GFC is a GAA club catering for girls, boys, ladies and men, located in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland. The club was formed in 1942 by the amalgamation of Ramblers United and St Joseph's. From its base on the Slane road, the club serves the Mell Parish in West Drogheda and fields gaelic football teams in competitions organised by Louth GAA. In 1957 the club won the Louth Senior Football Championship, defeating St Mary's of Ardee. They went on to complete the League and Championship double that year by beating Dundalk Young Irelands in the final of the Cardinal O'Donnell Cup.
