Jimmy Gunn (golfer)
Jimmy Gunn (born 18 July 1980) is a Scottish professional golfer. Unlike most professional golfers, Gunn did not play golf in college, but worked on oil rigs and built homes after finishing his schooling. In 2007, Gunn moved to the United States to turn professional. Gunn played the 2014 season on the Web.com Tour with a best finish of T-18 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am. He played the 2015 season on the Gateway Tour. Gunn finished tied for 27th at the 2015 U.S. Open. To qualify for the open he had to play in both local and sectional qualifying and ultimately qualified as an alternate. Since 2016 Gunn has played on the Web.com Tour. The Korn Ferry Tour is the developmental tour for the U.S.-based PGA Tour, and features professional golfers who have either not yet reached the PGA Tour, or who have done so but then failed to win enough FedEx Cup points to stay at that level. A professional golfer is somebody who receives payments or financial rewards in the sport of golf that are directly related to their skill or reputation. A person who earns money by teaching or playing golf is traditionally considered a "golf pro," most of whom are teachers/coaches. The professional golfer status is reserved for people who play, rather than teach, golf for a career. In golf, the distinction between amateurs and professionals is rigorously maintained. BMW Charity Pro-Am
The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From 1992 to 2000, the event was played at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville. When the event changed to a pro-am format in 2001, it moved to The Cliffs in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, using the Valley and Keowee Vineyards courses. The Walnut Cove course was added in 2005. Gateway Tour
The Gateway Tour, title sponsored as the OnCore Gateway Tour, is a third-level men's professional golf tour headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona that runs tournaments in Arizona, California, and Florida. The top level of men's professional golf in the United States is the PGA Tour. The second level is the Korn Ferry Tour, which is the official developmental tour run by the PGA Tour. The Gateway Tour and rival ventures such as the Swing Thought Tour are the level below that. The fourth and lowest level of tour golf is the mini-tour circuit. The Gateway Tour was founded as the Gateway Pro Tour in 2001 by former Arizona State All-American golfer Chris Stutts. The first season had 14 tournaments and paid out US$2.4 million in prize money. The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour, played at the Abaco Club on Winding Bay in the Bahamas. It is one of two Korn Ferry Tour events in the Bahamas, along with The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic. Both events were first played in January 2017 starting on a Sunday and finishing on a Wednesday, rather than the standard Thursday–Sunday schedule. Andrew Landry (born August 7, 1987) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Early life Born in Port Neches, Texas, Landry played college golf at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he was a three-time All-American and won one individual title. He turned professional after graduating in 2009. Professional career Landry played on mini-tours, including the Adams Pro Tour where he won twice. Masters Tournament
The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States.
