Jimmy George
Jimmy George (8 March 1955 – 30 November 1987) is often considered one of the greatest volleyball players of all time and was a member of India men's national volleyball team. He was the first Indian volleyball player to become a professional and played club volleyball in Italy. He is brother-in-law of the olympian Anju Bobby George. Career Jimmy George was born to the famous Kudakkachira family, at Thundiyil near Peravoor in Kannur district, as the second son of Adv. George Joseph and Mary George. He learned to play volleyball from his father, a former university-level player. He played for St. Joseph's High School in Peravoor. In 1970, Jimmy became a member of the University of Calicut volleyball team. In 1973, he joined St. Thomas College, Pala. Jimmy represented the Kerala University four times from 1973 to 1976. Pete Demetre Georgantonis (born 27 February 1940 in Amarillo, Texas), known as Jimmy George or Jimmy Georgantonis, is an American composer, arranger, guitarist, singer, and producer who, since 1965, has been active in pop, jazz fusion, and rock — in live venues, recording studios, cinema, and TV production. As a sideman, he has toured with The Beach Boys, Shaun Cassidy, Dobie Gray, and Leif Garrett. As an artist, he has recorded with Mercury Records, 1960–1969 and Viva Records (1969). Since the 1960s, George has been a studio musician on dozens of records, commercials, and a few films. From 1965 to 1970, George was a staff composer for United Artists. From 1970 to 1975, he was a staff composer for Motown Records. Jimmy George is a Canadian folk rock band from Ottawa, Canada, who combine Celtic folk with rock influences and formed in 1991. History The line-up through the majority of the Duke of Somerset years, recording of both albums and all videos was Eric Altman (drums, management), Joel Carlson (mandolin), Michael Eady (fiddle), Steve Donnelly (bass), Jeff Kerr (banjo), Michael "Spike" Lawson (guitar), J Todd (main vocals, acoustic guitar) and Mickey Vallee (accordion). While Todd took the majority of singing duties, other members sang harmonies and most sang lead on a song or two. The original, short-lived lineup consisted of Michael Lawson (electric guitar), Joel Carlson (mandolin), Steve Barry (vocals), Duncan Gillis (acoustic guitar/penny whistle), Rob Porter (drums), Michael Eady (fiddle) and Colin Burns (bass). The Jimmy George Sports Hub, formerly known as the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, is a stadium in Vellayambalam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It was constructed in 1987.
