Jimmy Bancks
James Charles Bancks (10 May 1889 – 1 July 1952), commonly J. C. Bancks, was an Australian cartoonist and commercial artist, water and illustrator best known for his comic strip ''Ginger Meggs''. Biography James Charles Bancks was born in Enmore, New South Wales, Australia on 10 May 1889, the son of an Irish railway worker, John Spencer Bancks. Bancks left school at the age of 14 and found employment with a finance company. His first illustrations were accepted and published by ''The Comic Australian'' in 1913, followed by ''The Arrow'' in 1914. This encouraged Bancks to submit work to ''The Bulletin (Australian periodical), The Bulletin'', where he was offered a permanent position, which he accepted and remained until 1922. Throughout this period he was studying art under Antonio Dattilo Rubbo, Dattilo Rubbo and Julian Ashton and supplying freelance cartoons to the ''Sunday Herald Sun''. Enmore, New South Wales
Enmore is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Enmore is located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) south-west of the Sydney central business district and is part of the Local government in Australia, local government area of Inner West Council. Like Newtown, Enmore is mostly comprises Victorian era buildings, namely in its commercial area, that provide a hint of the suburb's rich cultural heritage. History Enmore was named after Enmore House, built in 1835 by Captain Sylvester Browne, a master mariner with the British East India Company. Browne named his house after the Guyana estate of a business associate, the head of James Cavan & Co, which in turn took its name from Enmore, Somerset, Enmore in Somerset, England. ''Blue Mountain Melody'' (also seen as ''The Blue Mountains Melody'') is a 1934 Australian musical comedy. The musical is set in and around Sydney, Australia; with scenes in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Palm Beach, New South Wales, and Kings Cross, New South Wales. It was a rare local musical produced by J. C. Williamson Ltd. The firm commissioned it following the success of ''Collits' Inn''. ''Blue Mountain Melody'''s original production featuring Madge Elliott and Cyril Ritchard opened at the Theatre Royal in Sydney in September 1934. The production moved to Melbourne at His Majesty's Theatre in November 1934.
