Jiminy
Jiminy Cricket is the Disney version of the Talking Cricket, a fictional character created by Italian writer Carlo Collodi for his 1883 children's book ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'', which Walt Disney adapted into the animated film ''Pinocchio'' in 1940. Originally an unnamed, minor character in Collodi's novel who is killed by Pinocchio before returning as a ghost, he was transformed for the Disney adaptation into a comical and wisecracking partner who accompanies Pinocchio on his adventures, having been appointed by the Blue Fairy (known in the book as the "Fairy with Turquoise Hair") to serve as Pinocchio's official conscience. In the film, he sings " When You Wish Upon a Star", the Walt Disney Company's signature song, and "Give a Little Whistle". Give A Little Whistle
"Give a Little Whistle" is a song written by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington for Walt Disney's 1940 adaptation of ''Pinocchio''. The original version was sung by Cliff Edwards in the character of Jiminy Cricket and Dickie Jones in the character of Pinocchio, and is teaching how to whistle in the film. It is one of two original songs to not appear in Disney's 2022 live-action remake of the film, along with "Little Wooden Head". In the film Jiminy Cricket hopped on Pinocchio's toes, attempts the whistle on the two failures. Jiminy whistles three times for Pinocchio on the last whistle. Eddie Carroll
Eddie Carroll (September 5, 1933 – April 6, 2010) was a Canadian actor, who is best known as the third performer to provide the voice for Jiminy Cricket, a role he played for over 35 years. Career In Canada, Carroll studied at the Orion theater with fellow student Robert Goulet. After moving to Hollywood in 1956 to work for NBC as a writer and producer, living as a resident alien in the United States, he was drafted into the US Army. He performed with the Armed Forces Radio Service and the 6th Army Chorus. In 1959, he took the professional name Eddie Carroll. In 1960 Carroll released a comedy album, "On Fraternity Row." In 1962, he co-wrote the song "How Is Julie?" which was recorded by The Lettermen. Starting in the early 1960s, Carroll appeared in numerous television programs and commercials. Cliff Edwards
Clifton Avon "Cliff" Edwards (June 14, 1895 – July 17, 1971), nicknamed "Ukulele Ike", was an American pop singer, musician and actor. He enjoyed considerable popularity in the 1920s and early 1930s, specializing in jazzy renditions of pop standards and novelty tunes, including a number one hit with "Singin' in the Rain (song), Singin' in the Rain" in 1929. Ward Kimball
Ward Walrath Kimball (March 4, 1914 – July 8, 2002) was an American animator employed by Walt Disney Animation Studios. He was part of Walt Disney's main team of animators, known collectively as Disney's Nine Old Men. His films have been honored with two Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Film. Outside of his job as an animator, Kimball was a railroad enthusiast as well as a talented jazz trombonist. He founded and led the seven-piece Dixieland band Firehouse Five Plus Two, in which he played the trombone. Early life Kimball was born on March 4, 1914, in Minneapolis. His father was a salesman who traveled widely. He grew up in the Midwest, often residing with his grandparents.
