Omer Havron (; born 7 June, 1985) known professionally by his stage name Jimbo J, is an Israeli rapper, singer, songwriter and actor. Childhood Havron was born and raised in Rehovot. The stage name "Jimbo J" was his nickname on the instant messaging software ICQ, which has stuck with him ever since. He served in the Artillery Corps (Israel), Israeli Artillery Corps, and later studied communications at Sapir Academic College, specializing in radio and podcasting. Career Music While in high school in 2007, Havron was a member of a rap group called N.O.D, which later became the trio "Victor Jackson". Havron performed as a rapper in the trio alongside Omer Mor and Amit Ulman until 2011, when the three began performing theater together on stage. In April 2016, he launched a crowdfunding campaign on Headstart (web), Headstart, aiming to raise 30,000 NIS to fund his debut album. Israeli Hip Hop
Israeli hip hop refers to hip hop and rap music in Israel. Israeli hip hop artists enjoy wide popularity in Israel and have succeeded in appealing to international markets particularly the United States. The genre began gaining popularity in Israel during the 1990s, influenced by global hip hop trends. However, traces of native Hebrew hip hop can be found as early as the mid-1980s. Yair Nitzani, then a member of the Israeli rock group Tislam, released an old-school hip hop parody album under the name "Hashem Tamid". This early work was influenced by New York's hip hop scene. In 1993, Nigel Haadmor and Yossi Fine produced the album "Humus Metamtem", further establishing the genre in Israel. Haadmor, born Yehoshua Sofer, brought a unique sound influenced by his Caribbean roots and Jewish heritage.
