Jim Williams (born February 4, 1957) is a weekday news anchor for WBBM-TV in Chicago. Early life and education A native of Chicago's South Side, Williams graduated from Kenwood High School in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. He earned a bachelor's degree in media management from Columbia College in Chicago. Professional career Williams began his broadcasting career in 1977 as a part-time news film librarian at WGN-TV in Chicago. WBBM-TV (channel 2) is a television station in Chicago, Illinois, United States, airing programming from the CBS network. Owned and operated by the network's CBS News and Stations division, the station maintains studios on West Washington Street in the Loop district, and its transmitter is located atop the Willis Tower. History Early history (1940–1953) WBBM-TV traces its history to 1940 when Balaban and Katz, a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures, signed on experimental station W9XBK, the first all-electronic television facility in Chicago. Hyde Park is the 41st of the 77 community areas of Chicago. It is located on the South Side, near the shore of Lake Michigan south of the Loop. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, it is sister to the company's sole radio property, news/talk/ sports station WGN (720 AM).
