Jim Sweeney (comedian)
Michael James Dominic Sweeney (born 7 February 1955; Bournemouth, England) is an English actor and comedian, best known for his improvisation partnership with Steve Steen. Life and career When Sweeney was 11 years old, he moved to London with his parents, along with two brothers and a sister. He became interested in theatre and improvisation while attending Clapham College, an all-boys Roman Catholic school. Sweeney spent the 1970s in theatre productions, creating and touring shows with Steen, who was a friend from school. The pairing's first television work as a duo came on the ITV children's show '' CBTV'', followed by the Channel 4 comedy '' Little Armadillos'' and resident support comic slots on Rory Bremner's first sketch show for the BBC. Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Samuel Taylor Coleridge (; 21 October 177225 July 1834) was an English poet, literary critic, philosopher, and theologian who, with his friend William Wordsworth, was a founder of the Romantic Movement in England and a member of the Lake Poets. He also shared volumes and collaborated with Charles Lamb, Robert Southey, and Charles Lloyd. He wrote the poems '' The Rime of the Ancient Mariner'' and '' Kubla Khan'', as well as the major prose work ''Biographia Literaria''. His critical work, especially on William Shakespeare, was highly influential, and he helped introduce German idealist philosophy to English-speaking cultures. Coleridge coined many familiar words and phrases, including "suspension of disbelief". He had a major influence on Ralph Waldo Emerson and American transcendentalism. The Comedy Store Players
The Comedy Store Players is a group of improvisational comedians who perform at The Comedy Store in London. The group first came into being in October 1985. Members of the group have included: *Dave Cohen *Jeremy Hardy *Kit Hollerbach *Josie Lawrence *Paul Merton * Neil Mullarkey *Mike Myers *Lee Simpson * Andy Smart * Jim Sweeney *Sandi Toksvig * Richard Vranch Currently there are five regular cast members; Josie Lawrence, Neil Mullarkey, Lee Simpson, Andy Smart, and Richard Vranch. Sweeney retired from performing in 2008 but is still listed as a member and is also the group's President. All The Young Dudes (radio Show)
''All the Young Dudes'' was a radio comedy drama series that aired from July 2001 to October 2002. There were 12 35-minute episodes and it was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. It was written by and starred Jim Sweeney. Based on Sweeney's first play, Danny's Wake, which won a Fringe First in Edinburgh and a Granada Media Comedy Writing Award, All the Young Dudes follows the lives of Patrick and his friends and family. Whilst the play was essentially a black comedy in which two old friends spend a night alone at a wake where alcohol makes truth and lies indistinguishable, All The Young Dudes keeps the same themes, but is far more light hearted. Sweeney blends nostalgia through flashbacks and music to create well rounded characters and an engaging sense of community. Caroline Quentin (born Caroline Jones; 11 July 1960) is an English actress, broadcaster and television presenter.
