Jim Smith (animator)
James Carl Smith (né Jobb; October 8, 1954 – May 2, 2025) was an American animator and musician. He worked on '' Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures'' with his long-time working partner John Kricfalusi. Smith later briefly worked on ''Tiny Toon Adventures'', and then along with Kricfalusi, Bob Camp and Lynne Naylor he founded Spümcø, where he co-developed ''The Ren & Stimpy Show'' (from which he departed in 1992 alongside Kricfalusi) in 1991 and ''The Ripping Friends'' in 2001. He was notable for remaining faithful to Kricfalusi, having refused to join Games Animation (though he worked on ''The X's'' after its rebranding to Nickelodeon Animation Studio), working with Kricfalusi on his projects amid other work until '' Cans Without Labels'' (2017). Smith composed and played the guitar for the ''Ren & Stimpy'' music theme intro, performing alongside production assistant Scott Huml and co-worker Chris Reccardi. James Ray Smith (born February 27, 1932) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive guard for nine seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the Baylor Bears. Early life Smith attended West Columbia High School where he practiced four sports. He accepted a scholarship from Baylor University, where he was a two-way tackle and a three-year starter. In 1968, he was inducted into the Baylor University Athletics Hall of Fame. In 1987, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. James Arthur Smith (born July 20, 1955) is an American former professional football player who was wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 1974 to 1976. He played in the NFL for six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1977 to 1982 before starring on the Birmingham Stallions of the rival United States Football League (USFL). After the USFL's demise, Smith played a final season for the Los Angeles Raiders in 1985. Early life Smith grew up in Robbins, Illinois, and attended Dwight D. James Smith is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman who was an All-American for Denver. Career Smith was a solid player for Denver for most of his time with the Pioneers. For his first two seasons, he produced decent numbers but wasn't able to help the team finish any better than 5th in the 6-team WCHA. As a junior, the team got marginally better, recording a winning season for the first time since he joined the squad but still ended up 5th in the standings (now with 8 teams in the conference). All of that changed in his senior season. Denver jumped out to a fast start in 1985 and rode the success to a first-place finish. Smith nearly doubled his career best offensive output and led the defensive corps in scoring, ending up in a tie for 5th in the nation from the blueline. Cedric Ivan James Smith (25 August 1906 – 8 February 1979) was an English cricketer who played in five Test matches for the England cricket team between 1935 and 1937. Career Known as "Big Jim", Smith joined the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) ground staff in 1926 and played for Wiltshire until 1933. He qualified for Middlesex in 1934 and took 172 wickets at 18.88 to finish 6th in the bowling averages in his debut season. He was selected for the 1934–35 MCC tour of the West Indies on the strength of this performance and played in every Test there. On debut, he took five wickets in the second innings in Bridgetown.
