James J. Reed was an American wrestling, football, and soccer Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. Reed graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, from 1923 to 1927. He spent four seasons on the school's wrestling team and three on the soccer team. In 1928, he was selected as an alternate for the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team.
