Jim Parmer
James Richard Parmer (April 25, 1927 – April 20, 2005) was an American football running back in the National Football League (NFL) who played for nine seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles. He later worked as a Scout (sport), scout. Parmer served as an assistant coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football, Texas Tech Red Raiders football team under DeWitt Weaver during the 1960 season. During the fourth episode of ''Hard Knocks (documentary series), Hard Knocks'', team General Manager Jeff Ireland revealed that Parmer was his grandfather. The Texas Tech Red Raiders football program is a college football team that represents Texas Tech University (variously "Texas Tech" or "TTU"). Jeff Ireland
Jeff Ireland (born March 11, 1970) is an American football executive who is the assistant general manager and college scouting director for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He previously served as the general manager of the Miami Dolphins from 2008 to 2014 and also served for the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs in various executive roles. Before his career as a football executive, Ireland was an assistant football coach at the University of North Texas, and a player at Baylor University. Ireland was also a childhood ball boy for the Chicago Bears. DeWitt Weaver
DeWitt Thompson Weaver Sr. (May 11, 1912 – January 19, 1998) was an American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 1951 to 1960. He was the first head football coach at Texas Tech to win a bowl game during his first season—an accomplishment unmatched at Texas Tech until Tommy Tuberville's first season, in 2010. In 1956, he became the first college coach to defeat the Texas Longhorns in a season-opener in Austin. He amassed a 49–51–5 record. From 1952 to 1960, he also served as the athletic director at Texas Technological College, as Texas Tech University was then known.
