Jim Gailloreto
Jim Gailloreto (born 1960) is an American saxophonist, composer, and group leader from Chicago whose string arrangements were heard on Kurt Elling's Grammy Award–winning CD ''Dedicated To You''. Biography Rooted in modern post-bop, Jim Gailloreto has been active on the Chicago jazz and creative music scene since the 1980s. A prolific composer and arranger he has eight recordings as a leader to his credit with three instrumentally diverse groups, and has recorded as a sideman with several notable artists and record labels. Chicagojazz.com describes Gailloreto's compositions as "genre bending". On his ''Jazzformation'' and ''The Insider'' recordings, Gailloreto's tenor saxophone is heard with a more conventional small jazz ensemble of guitar, piano, bass, and drums while his Jazz String Quintet recordings feature his soprano sax improvisations backed by a string quintet. John Scofield
John Scofield (born December 26, 1951), sometimes referred to as "Sco", is an American guitarist and composer whose music over a long career has blended jazz, jazz fusion, funk, blues, soul and rock. Alan Burrage Stout Jr (November 26, 1932 – February 1, 2018) was an American composer of contemporary classical music. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Stout studied at Johns Hopkins University (B.S., 1954) and at the Peabody Conservatory. His instructors included Henry Cowell, Wallingford Riegger, John Verrall, and Vagn Holmboe, the latter at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark for a year. He then studied at the University of Washington, obtaining a M.A. in 1959. Stout taught at Northwestern University beginning in 1962. His notable students include Joseph Schwantner, Augusta Read Thomas, Jay Kawarsky, Jared Spears, Marilyn Shrude, Maggi Payne, Michael Twomey, Justinian Tamusuza, Frank Ferko and Michael Pisaro. George Flynn
George Flynn is a distinguished American composer and pianist. Born in Montana on January 21, 1937, he grew up in Montana and Washington. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. from, and taught at Columbia University, New York City, and from 1977 to 2001 headed the Department of Composition at DePaul University in Chicago.
