Jim Berry (cartoonist)
James Osmyn Berry (January 16, 1932 – March 20, 2015) was an American comic strip artist. Berry was born in Chicago in 1932''Comics Buyer's Guide'' #1650; February 2009; Page 107 and attended Dartmouth College and Ohio Wesleyan University. In 1961, Berry began working for the Newspaper Enterprise Association. His most notable work may well be the syndicated editorial cartoon '' Berry's World'', distributed six days a week for more than 40 years beginning in 1963. There was also a Sunday comic strip version of the strip, about which he stated "I enjoy working in color on the Sunday pages and having all that space in which to draw". The National Headliner Award was presented to Berry in 1967. Berry won the National Cartoonists Society award for Best Special Feature in 1970 and 1972. ''Comics Buyer's Guide'' (''CBG''; ), established in 1971, was the longest-running English-language periodical reporting on the American comic book industry. It awarded its annual Comics Buyer's Guide Fan Awards from 1983 to circa 2010. Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter
Richard Dragon (or simply Dragon) is the alias of two characters appearing in media published by DC Comics. Although both incarnations differ in alignment, they are both portrayed as accomplished martial artists with connections to the League of Assassins. The first incarnation, Richard Drakunovski, was created by Dennis O'Neil and Jim Berry (cartoonist), James R. Berry in the novel ''Kung Fu Master, Richard Dragon: Dragon's Fists'' (1974) under the shared pseudonym "Jim Dennis". O'Neil later adapted the character for DC Comics in the comic book ''Richard Dragon, Kung Fu Fighter''. A thief who was trained in martial arts and decided to use his skills for good, the character is considered one of DC Comic's premier martial artists alongside peers such as Bronze Tiger, Lady Shiva, and Batman. Denny O'Neil
Dennis "Denny" Joseph O'Neil (May 3, 1939 – June 11, 2020) was an American comic book writer and editor, principally for Marvel Comics and DC Comics from the 1960s through the 1990s, and Group Editor for the Batman family of titles until his retirement. His best-known works include '' Green Lantern/Green Arrow'' and ''Batman'' with Neal Adams. For ''Batman'', the team is credited with returning the character to his dark pulp fiction roots, in contrast to the campy ''Batman'' television series of the 1960s. However, comics historian Les Daniels considers O'Neil's "vengeful obsessive-compulsive" Batman to be an original interpretation that has influenced all subsequent portrayals of the character. It was during this run that O'Neil co-created the Batman villains Ra's al Ghul and Talia al Ghul.
