Jim Adams (soccer)
Jim Adams (born November 16, 1969) is an American soccer goalkeeper who most recently played for the Cincinnati Excite in the American Indoor Soccer League. He played two seasons in the USISL earlier in his career where he was also the 1995 Goalkeeper of the Year. Adams attended Mercer County Community College where he played soccer in 1988 and 1989. Mercer won the 1988 Junior College National Championship and Adams was a 1989 junior college All American. He then transferred to Monmouth University, playing soccer there in 1990 and 1991. He holds the school's career record for saves and goals against average. In 1992, he signed with the Denver Thunder in the National Professional Soccer League where he started two games during the 1992–1993 season. Cincinnati Riverhawks
The Cincinnati Riverhawks were a professional soccer team that debuted in the USISL Premier Development League in 1997 and joined the A-League from 1998 to 2003. They played their games at Galbreath Field in Kings Mills, Ohio and later at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds and at the Town and Country Sports Complex in Wilder, KY. The Chicago Power were an indoor soccer club based in Chicago, Illinois that competed in the American Indoor Soccer Association and National Professional Soccer League. After the 1995–96 season, the team was sold to Peter Pocklington, moved and became the Edmonton Drillers. Goals Against Average
Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. For ice hockey, the goals against average statistic is the number of goals a goaltender allows per 60 minutes of playing time. It is calculated by taking the number of goals against, multiply that by 60 (minutes) and then dividing by the number of minutes played. The modification is used by the NHL since 1965 and the IIHF since 1990. When calculating GAA, overtime goals and time on ice are included, whereas empty net and shootout goals are not.
