''Jewels 2nd Ring'', was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event, the second of women's MMA promotion Jewels. The event was held on at Shinjuku Face in Kabukicho, Tokyo, Japan. Background On , the event was first announced and a few days later the first bouts were announced, Hiroko Yamanaka vs. Michiko Takeda, Misaki Takimoto vs. Yasuko Tamada, Masako Yoshida vs. Shinsaki Ozawa and Shizuka Sugiyama vs. Shiho Shiho, along with the participation of Saori Ishioka and Mayumi Aoki. On , debutants Hanako Kobayashi and Chihiro Oikawa were added to the card. The card had a rematch between Hiroko Yamanaka and Michiko Takeda, who had previously fought in Smackgirl in 2007, with Yamanaka winning the bout by split decision. Mayumi Aoki
is a Japanese swimmer. She competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in the 100 m and 200 m butterfly and 4 × 100 m medley relay and won a gold medal in the 100 m butterfly. She won a bronze medal in this event at the 1973 World Aquatics Championships. In 1972 she twice broke the world record in the 100 m butterfly. After retiring from competition she worked as a swimming coach and a high school teacher. In 1989 she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. ; born 12 April 1991) is a submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt competitor. Regarded by some as one of the greatest Japanese BJJ fighters, Yuasa is a World, European and Asian champion in coloured belt and a four times black belt World champion. Career Rikako Yuasa was born on 12 April 1991 in Saitama, Japan. She started swimming from the age of four, by the time she reached sixth grade she was selected to participate in the Junior Olympics. Smackgirl was a Japanese mixed martial arts promotion focused solely on female fighters. The promotion also held grappling and amateur events along with its main line of professional MMA cards. After financial difficulties throughout 2008 the promotion was sold to Marverous Japan Co.,Ltd. and rebranded JEWELS. Unlike conventional MMA in Japan, Smackgirl did not allow striking to the head while in a grounded position. There was also a 30-second limit for ground fighting but it was abolished by 2008.
