Jeweler (horse)
Jeweler (, foaled 17 January 2013) is a Japanese retired Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare best known for her win in the 2016 Oka Sho. She won her only start as a juvenile in 2015 and emerged as a top-class performer in the following spring. After finishing a close second in two Grade 3 events she took the Oka Sho, beating Sinhalite by a nose in a photo-finish. She made only two more appearances, running unplaced in the Rose Stakes and finishing a close fourth in the Shuka Sho. Background Jeweler is a bay mare with a large white star bred in Japan by Shadai Farm. During her racing career she carried the blue and white colours of Yoichi Aoyama and was trained by Kenichi Fujioka. She was ridden in most of her races by the Italian jockey Mirco Demuro. She was from the first crop of foals sired by Victoire Pisa, whose wins included the Satsuki Shō, Arima Kinen and Dubai World Cup. Victoire Pisa
Victoire Pisa () is a retired Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire. After winning three of his four starts as a juvenile, the colt won the Satsuki Shō at Nakayama Racecourse in April 2010. After an unsuccessful campaign in Europe he returned to Japan to win the weight-for-age invitational Arima Kinen in December. In the following spring he was sent to Dubai where he raced for the first time on a synthetic track in the Dubai World Cup. He defeated an international field to become the first Japanese-trained horse to win the world's most valuable race. His subsequent career was restricted by injury problems and he was retired at the end of 2011. Background Victoire Pisa is a dark bay horse bred at the Shadai Farm in Hokkaido. Anabaa
Anabaa (1992 – 2009) was an American-bred champion Thoroughbred racehorse who was trained in France during a racing career which lasted from September 1995 to October 1996. Anabaa failed to win until the age of four, but in 1996 he won his first six starts including two Group One races; the July Cup in England and the Prix Maurice de Gheest in France. At the end of the season he was named European Champion Sprinter at the Cartier Racing Awards. He later had a successful career at stud, becoming particularly known as the sire of Goldikova. Background Anabaa was bred in Kentucky by his original owner, Maktoum Al Maktoum's Gainsborough Stud. His sire Danzig, who ran only three times before his career was ended by injury, was a highly successful stallion who sired the winners of more than fifty Grade I/Group One races. The , also known as the is a Japanese Conditions races, Grade 1 Flat racing, flat Horse racing, horse race for three-year-old thoroughbred Filly, fillies run over a distance of 2,400 metres (approximately 1 mile 4 furlongs) at the Tokyo Racecourse, Fuchū, Tokyo in May. History It was first run in 1938 and is the Japanese equivalent of the English Epsom Oaks. On May 23, 2010, in the 71st running of the Yushun Himba, Apapane (horse), Apapane and Saint Emilion hit the finish at the same time in the race, marking the first time that a Grade 1 race in Japan resulted in a dead heat for the win.
