Jevgenija Stalidzāne (December 17, 1944 — October 21, 2015) was a Latvian politician and a deputy of the 7th and 8th Saeima The Saeima () is the parliament of the Latvia, Republic of Latvia. It is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation, with seats allocated to political parties which gain at least 5% of the p ... (the Latvian parliament). She was a member of the New Party, and later, the Latvian First Party. In 1968, she graduated from the Riga Polytechnic Institute, specializing in the automation of heat and electric energy processes. Before starting her political career, she was active in trade unions, having been the long-standing chairperson of the "Energy" trade union. Political activity In 1998, J. The Saeima () is the parliament of the Latvia, Republic of Latvia. It is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation, with seats allocated to political parties which gain at least 5% of the popular vote. Elections are scheduled to be held once every four years, normally on the first Saturday of October. The most recent elections were held in 2022 Latvian parliamentary election, October 2022. The President of Latvia can dismiss the Saeima and request early elections.
