''Jesus East'' is the second album by Melbourne electronica band Black Cab, released in 2006. The album was described as "sitar-drenched, blending Indian instruments (looped and droning) with driving rock’n’roll and country guitar stylings". Band member Andrew Coates explained: "The album's two musical signposts are the Beatles' sitar-drenched "Tomorrow Never Knows" and German Krautrock duo Neu!. We kind of had this theme which was George Harrison goes to an ashram in India and comes back to Germany via the autobahn. It really was the rough idea of what we were trying to do music-wise, and everything came from there." Neu!
Neu! (; German for "New!"; styled in block capitals) were a West German krautrock band formed in Düsseldorf in 1971 by Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother following their departure from Kraftwerk. The group's albums were produced by Conny Plank, who has been regarded as the group's "hidden member". They released three albums in their initial incarnation—'' Neu!'' (1972), '' Neu! 2'' (1973), and '' Neu! 75'' (1975)—before disbanding in 1975. They briefly reunited in the mid-1980s. Although Neu! had minimal commercial success during their existence, the band are retrospectively considered a central act of West Germany's 1970s krautrock movement. Altamont Raceway Park is a motorsports race track in the western United States, located in northern California, west of Tracy. It opened on July 22, 1966, and operated under the names Altamont Speedway, Altamont Raceway, Altamont Motorsports Park, Altamont Raceway Park and Arena, and Bernal Memorial Raceway. After 42 years' operation, the speedway closed in October 2008; the site is just south of the junction of Interstates 205 and 580. The Altamont Speedway Free Festival was a counterculture rock concert in the United States, held on Saturday, December 6, 1969, at the Altamont Speedway outside of Tracy, California. Approximately 300,000 attended the concert, with some anticipating that it would be a "Woodstock West". The Woodstock festival had taken place in Bethel, New York, in mid-August, almost four months earlier. The event is remembered for its use of Hells Angels as security and its significant violence, including the killing of Meredith Hunter and three accidental deaths: two from a hit-and-run car accident, and one from a drowning incident in an irrigation canal. Sam Cutler (born Brendan Lawrence Lyons; 10 March 1943 – 11 July 2023) was an English tour manager for The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, and other acts. Early life and career Cutler was born on 10 March 1943. He was an Honours Graduate in Contemporary History (Open University (OU)) and a qualified teacher (University of Cambridge Institute of Education 1963–66). Cutler's OU degree was gained at the end of the 1980s. Cutler worked for Blackhill Enterprises as stage manager and master of ceremonies on a series of 1960s gigs in the United Kingdom and Europe with different artists, including Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones and Alexis Korner.
