Jesus Christians
The Jesus Christians are a Christian millennialist network of communes on five different continents. They occasionally do volunteer work, are frequently active politically, and regularly distribute Christian comics, books, pamphlets, and DVDs. Most of their publications are written by their co-founder, Dave McKay. They were founded in Australia in 1981 by Dave and Cherry Mckay and have had a three-decade-long history of controversy documented extensively by the media. Their core beliefs are based on the teachings of Jesus with special emphasis on his decree from the Sermon on the Mount, that his followers "cannot serve God and money". Since disbanding in 2010, the group has operated under many different names. The different bases of the new organisation began experimenting with making YouTube videos as a way of disseminating their message. JC's Manchester 2005 Autumn
JC's is a formerly independent supermarket located in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland. The supermarket was purchased by Dunnes Stores (which operates a supermarket next door) in 2019 from the Savage family. Despite the acquisition by its neighbour, it continues to use the JC's brand. The supermarket was opened in 1977 by JC Savage, who died in 2010. Actor Simon Bird was photographed shopping here in January 2015. Satirist Dave Chambers, member of The Rubberbandits, is known to wear a JC's plastic shopping bag on his head. Jon Ronson
Jon Ronson (born 10 May 1967) is a British-American journalist, author, and filmmaker whose works include '' Them: Adventures with Extremists'' (2001), '' The Men Who Stare at Goats'' (2004), and ''The Psychopath Test'' (2011). He has been described as a gonzo journalist, becoming a '' faux-naïf'' character in his stories. He produces informal but sceptical investigations of controversial fringe politics and science. Chinese Communist Party
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), officially the Communist Party of China (CPC), is the founding and sole ruling party of the People's Republic of China (PRC). Under the leadership of Mao Zedong, the CCP emerged victorious in the Chinese Civil War against the Kuomintang, and, in 1949, Mao proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Freegan
Freeganism is an ideology of limited participation in the conventional economy and minimal consumption of resources, particularly through recovering wasted goods like food. The word "freegan" is a portmanteau of "free" and " vegan". While vegans avoid buying animal products as an act of protest against animal exploitation, freegans—at least in theory—avoid buying ''anything'' as an act of protest against the food system in general. Wife Swap (UK TV Series)
''Wife Swap'' is a British reality television programme produced by independent television production company RDF Media and created by Stephen Lambert for Channel 4, first broadcast in 2003 and ran for 7 years before being cancelled. The show returned for a one-off special episode on 15 June 2017. In the programme, two families, usually from different social classes and lifestyles, swap wives/mothers – and sometimes husbands – for two weeks. In fact, the programme will usually deliberately swap wives with dramatically different lifestyles, such as a messy wife swapping with a fastidiously neat one. Despite using a phrase from the swinging lifestyle, couples participating in the show do not share a bed with the "swapped" spouse while "swapping" homes. Jeremy Kyle (born 7 July 1965) is an English broadcaster and writer. He is known for hosting the tabloid talk show ''The Jeremy Kyle Show'' on ITV from 2005 to 2019. He also hosted a US version of his eponymous show, which ran for two seasons beginning in 2011. In 2022, Kyle became a presenter for ''TalkRadio'' and ''TalkTV''. People's Temple
The Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ, originally Peoples Temple Full Gospel Church and commonly shortened to Peoples Temple, was an American new religious organization which existed between 1954 and 1978. Founded in Indianapolis, Indiana by Reverend Jim Jones, the Peoples Temple spread a message that combined elements of Christianity with communist and socialist ideology, with an emphasis on racial equality. James Warren Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was an American preacher, political activist and mass murderer. He led the Peoples Temple, a new religious movement, between 1955 and 1978.
