Jessore-4 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh. Since 6 August 2024 the constituency is vacant. Boundaries The constituency encompasses Abhaynagar Upazila, Abhaynagar and Bagherpara Upazila, Bagherpara upazilas, and one union parishad of Jessore Sadar Upazila: Basundia. History The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973. Ahead of the 2008 Bangladeshi general election, 2008 general election, the Bangladesh Election Commission, Election Commission redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the 2001 Bangladesh census. The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency. Ahead of the 2014 Bangladeshi general election, 2014 general election, the Election Commission altered the boundaries of the constituency. Mozammel Haque (Jessore Politician)
ASM Mozammel Haque was a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami politician and a member of parliament for Jessore-4 and Jhenaidah-3. Career Haque was elected a member of parliament from undivided Jessore-4 as an Islamic Democratic League candidate in 1979 Bangladeshi general election. He was elected to parliament from Jhenaidah-3 as a Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in 1986. In 1987, he and 10 other MPs resigned from parliament following the party decision of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He was defeated in the fifth parliamentary elections of 1991 and the seventh parliamentary elections on 12 June 1996 as a candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from the Jhenaidah-3 constituency. He is deceased.
