Jesse Southwell (born 12 February 2005) is an Australian rugby league and rugby sevens footballer who currently plays for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL Women's Premiership. Her positions are and . Background Southwell was born in Newcastle, New South Wales. She played her junior rugby league for the Kotara Bears. She had played rugby league since she was a 5-year old child and only played rugby sevens for the first time at high school. She also played touch football growing up. Southwell said she was inspired by the Australian gold medal winning rugby sevens team at the 2016 Olympic Games. She is the younger sister of Knights teammate Hannah Southwell. Western Sydney Stadium, commercially known as CommBank Stadium, is a multi-purpose rectangular stadium in Parramatta, within the Greater Western Sydney region, approximately west of Sydney CBD. 2023 Women's State Of Origin
The 2023 Women's State of Origin Series was the sixth official Women's State of Origin rugby league series between New South Wales and Queensland. It was the first time in Women's State of Origin history that it was a series rather than a one-off game. The first game was played at Parramatta's Commbank Stadium on 2 June 2022 and the second was played at Townsville's Queensland Country Bank Stadium. The teams have played each other annually since 1999 with the 2023 series being the sixth played under the State of Origin banner. The Parramatta Eels are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta that competes in the National Rugby League. The 2022 NRLW Premiership was the fifth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The season started on Saturday, 20 August and ran for seven weekends.
