Roger Mayweather
Roger L. Mayweather (April 24, 1961 – March 17, 2020) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1981 to 1999 and later on a boxing trainer. He was a two-division world champion, having held the WBA and ''The Ring'' super featherweight titles from 1983 to 1984, and the WBC light welterweight title from 1987 to 1989. Additionally he held the IBO light welterweight title in 1994, and the IBO welterweight title from 1994 to 1995. Mayweather served as the trainer for his nephew, Floyd Mayweather Jr., from 2000 to 2012. He emphasized the Michigan Defense and use of a defensive technique known as the shoulder roll. Under Roger's guidance, Floyd Jr. became one of the biggest names in the sport of boxing and one of the pound for pound greats. Oscar Albarado
Oscar Albarado (September 15, 1948 – February 17, 2021) was an American former professional boxer who held the undisputed light middleweight world championship from June 1974 to January 1975. Professional career Known as "Shotgun", Albarado turned pro in 1966 and captured the undisputed light middleweight championship when he upset Koichi Wajima by KO in 1974. He defended the crown once before losing it in a rematch to Wajima in 1975 by decision. He retired after the loss. Comeback Albarado launched an unsuccessful comeback five years later, retiring in 1982 after several losses. Death Albarado died on February 17, 2021, in Uvalde Texas at Amistad Nursing home at the age of 72. Paul Ross Spadafora (born September 5, 1975) is an American retired professional boxer. He is the former IBF lightweight champion of the world, and has challenged once for a light welterweight world title. In 2020, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame. Personal background Known as "The Pittsburgh Kid", Spadafora is from McKees Rocks, a borough outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His childhood was poverty-stricken: his father died of a drug overdose when he was nine, and he was homeless for several weeks as a teenager. Dohonna Malik Scott (born October 16, 1980) is an American boxing trainer and former professional boxer who competed from 2000 to 2016. Amateur career Scott started boxing at the age of 11 and had a stellar amateur career. In 1997, he won the Junior Olympics Championships and the "Under-19" Junior World Championships. Scott also won the American Boxing Classic title in 1998. He won the National AAU Heavyweight Championship in 1999 defeating world champ Michael Bennett (boxer), Michael Bennett and Jason Estrada in the process. Jesse Burnett
Jesse Burnett (born February 8, 1946) is an American former professional boxer. His professional record was 23-18-2 with 11 knockouts. He is best remembered as the spoiler who won a twelve-round decision in a WBC cruiserweight elimination bout over former world light-heavyweight champion Victor Galindez of Argentina in 1980, sending Galindez into retirement. In Burnett's two tries at a world title, he was stopped in the ninth round of a 1977 vacant WBC light-heavyweight title bout by Miguel Angel Cuello, and stopped in the eighth round of a 1983 WBC cruiserweight title bout against S.T. Gordon. Lamon Brewster
Lamon Tajuan Brewster (born June 5, 1973) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1996 to 2010. He held the World Boxing Organization (WBO) heavyweight title from 2004 to 2006, and is best known for scoring an upset knockout victory over Wladimir Klitschko to win the vacant title. Brewster was ranked by BoxRec as the world's eighth best active heavyweight at the conclusion of 2004. As an amateur, he won the U.S. national championships in 1995, and a silver medal at that year's Pan American Games, both in the heavyweight division. Jose 'Gaby' Canizales (born May 1, 1960) is an American former professional boxer who won the Lineal championship in the bantamweight division. Early life Canizales was born in Laredo in Webb County, Texas. Pro career Canizales turned pro in 1979 and in 1983 challenged Jeff Chandler for the World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight title but lost a decision. In 1986 he landed a shot at Richie Sandoval for the Lineal and WBA bantamweight title. Canizales dominated, and knocked Sandoval down once in the 1st, once in the 5º, and three times in the 7th round, winning via a 7th-round knockout. Walter Tyeson "Tye" Fields (born February 8, 1975) is an American former professional boxer who held the USBA heavyweight title. Boxing career Tye Fields grew up in Beaverton, Oregon. Fields played college basketball and was a starter at forward for San Diego State University. Fields never was an amateur. Standing at 6 feet and 8 inches and weighing around 275 lbs (125 kg), the southpaw Fields was considered large even for the heavyweight division.
