Jesse Hibbs
Jesse John Hibbs (January 11, 1906 – February 4, 1985) was an American film director, film and television director and American football, football player. He played college football for the USC Trojans football, USC Trojans, earning consensus College Football All-America Team, All-American honors as a Tackle (American football), tackle in 1927 and 1928. Football career Born in Normal, Illinois, Hibbs graduated from the select Lake Forest Academy and subsequently enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was the captain (sports), captain of USC's first College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national championship team, in 1928. Among his 1926 teammates was Marion Morrison, later known as John Wayne. Hibbs played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the Chicago Bears in 1931. A tackle is a playing position in American football. Historically, in the one-platoon system prevalent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a tackle played on both offense and defense. In the modern system of specialized units, offensive tackle and defensive tackle are separate positions, and the stand-alone term "tackle" refers to the offensive tackle position only. The offensive tackle (OT, T), sometimes specified as left tackle (LT) or right tackle (RT), is a position on the offensive line that flanks the two guards. Like other offensive linemen, their objective is to block during each offensive play, physically preventing defenders from tackling or disrupting the offensive ball carrier with the intention of advancing the football downfield. Filmed at Old Tucson Studios, it recounts the first successful introduction of limited self-government by John Clum (1851–1932), Indian agent for the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in the Arizona Territory and is based on the 1936 biography ''Apache Agent'' by his son Woodworth Clum (1878-1946). Plot The film begins in 1874, when John Clum arrives in Tucson, Arizona as the new Indian agent of the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation.
