Jesper Jensen (handballer)
Jesper Jensen (born 30 October 1977) is a Danish handball player and currently the head coach of Team Esbjerg as well as the Danish women's national team. He was named World Coach of the Year (female teams) in 2021 by IHF. He is brother of the former Danish handball player and 2004 Olympic champion, Trine Jensen. Jensen won the 2008 European Men's Handball Championship with the Danish men's national handball team. He was part of the team which finished seventh in the 2008 Olympic tournament. He played all eight matches and scored 16 goals. On 17 February 2011, Jensen stopped on the Danish men's national team after 120 games and 238 goals. In 2020, he was named head coach of the Danish women's national team and coached them at the 2020 European Women's Handball Championship. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. 2020 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2020 European Women's Handball Championship was held from 3 to 20 December 2020. The games were played in Herning and Kolding, Denmark. Originally, this tournament would be held with 2 host countries: Norway and Denmark. However, lacking some time for the beginning, Norway renounced the right to seat, respecting the local legislation about the COVID-19 pandemic.
