Jersey Community Unit School District 100 is a public K-12 school district based in Jerseyville, Illinois. The school district consists of five attendance centers in two municipalities, serving students in most of Jersey County, Illinois, and a small portion of southern Greene County, Illinois. K-12
K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993 by karateka Kazuyoshi Ishii. Originally under the ownership of the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG), K-1 was considered to be the largest Kickboxing organization in the world. The organization was known for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. K-1 also promoted mixed martial arts events, with some events having both kickboxing and MMA matches on their cards (such as their K-1 Premium Dynamite!!, Dynamite!! series). The promotion has also held several tournaments under K-2 and K-3 banners from 1993 to 1995. FEG would later face financial issues in the 2010s, and eventually went bankrupt in 2012. Jerseyville is the largest city in and the county seat of Jersey County, Illinois, United States. At the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 8,337. Jerseyville is a part of Southern Illinois, the Metro-East region and the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1827, James Faulkner, a Pennsylvania native, and his family built a small framed structure that was named the "Little Red House," in the area that is now known as Jerseyville. The "Little Red House" served as the first stagecoach station, first tavern, first school, and first bank in the immediate area. By 1834, the small settlement that grew up around Faulkner's home, then known as Hickory Grove by its residents, was surveyed and platted by two immigrants from New Jersey, John Lott and Edward M. Grafton, Illinois
Grafton is the oldest city in Jersey County, Illinois, United States. It is located near the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 626. Prior to the Great Flood of 1993, Grafton had enjoyed a stable population of nearly 1,000 residents. Grafton is a part of the Metro-East region and Greater St. Louis. History Founded in 1832 by James Mason, Grafton is the oldest city in Jersey County. Fieldon, Illinois
Fieldon is a village in Jersey County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the village had a total population of 176. History The town's original founding was in the 1830s by a man known as John Field. It is believed that the town grew as a trading post for travelers on the Illinois River. When the construction of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad made its way through the neighboring city of Jerseyville in 1853 it brought even more businesses to the area. During the Civil War Fieldon was a known stop for the Underground Railroad. The town also sent troops for the 122nd Illinois Infantry Regiment. In the early 1900s Feildon saw a boom in industry which included canneries, sawmills, and more. After the Great Depression the town saw its economy shift towards agriculture.
