Jerry Farley
Jerry B. Farley (born September 20, 1946) is a retired American academic administrator and educator serving as the 16th president of Washburn University from 1997 to 2022. Since graduating college in 1968, Farley has served in various administrative positions at the University of Oklahoma ("OU" or "Oklahoma") and Oklahoma State University–Stillwater ("Oklahoma State"). Early life and education Farley was born in Tipton, Oklahoma. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1968 with a bachelor of science in finance and accounting. In 1972, Farley received his master's degree in 1977, and his doctorate in 1986. Career After graduating from OU, Farley began his nearly thirty-year career at OU as a controller. In 1981, Farley became OU's associate vice president for administration before leaving for Oklahoma State to become Vice President for Business & Administration in 1986. Tipton, Oklahoma
Tipton is a town in the western part of Tillman County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 847 at the United States 2010 census, a 31.6 percent decline from 1,238 in 2000. Tipton also is home to Tipton Home, originally called Tipton Orphans' Home, a home for children, established in 1921, when Sol and Maggie Tipton donated a plot of land in Canadian, Texas to the founders. The Tipton Church of Christ moved the home to Tipton in 1924, where it still operated into the 21st century. The Washburn Institute of Technology (Washburn Tech) is a public institute of technology in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It is part of Washburn University and awards associate degrees and certificates in professional and technical disciplines. History The school was established in 1941 as the Topeka Trade School. Kansas lawmakers passed legislation in 1964 creating the Northeast Kansas Vocational Technical School. It became the Kaw Area Vocational Technical School in 1967 and opened the doors of its current facility in 1968. In 1992, the school became the Kaw Area Technical School. Responsibility for the school was changed from Topeka Unified School District 501 Board of Education to Washburn University in 2008, and the name was changed to Washburn Institute of Technology around that time.
