Jerry Aldridge
Jerry Charles Aldridge (born September 17, 1956) is a former professional American football halfback in the National Football League. He attended Angelo State University where he was selected as an AP College Division All-American, and led the team to an NAIA championship in 1978. He played with the San Francisco 49ers in 1980. He also played for the Oakland Invaders in the USFL, scoring a touchdown on an 80-yard pass play in June 1983. His son Cory As a given name, Cory is used by both males and females. Halfback (American Football)
A halfback (HB) is an offensive position in American football, whose duties involve lining up in the offensive backfield and carrying the ball on most rushing plays, i.e. a running back. When the principal ball carrier lines up deep in the backfield, and especially when that player is placed behind another player (usually a blocking back), as in the I formation, that player is instead referred to as a tailback. Sometimes the halfback can catch the ball from the backfield on short passing plays as they are an eligible receiver. Occasionally, they line up as additional wide receivers. USFL
The United States Football League (USFL) was a professional American football league that played for three seasons, 1983 through 1985. The league played a spring/summer schedule in each of its active seasons. The 1986 season was scheduled to be played in the autumn/winter, directly competing against the long-established National Football League (NFL). However, the USFL ceased operations before that season was scheduled to begin. The ideas behind the USFL were conceived in 1965 by New Orleans businessman David Dixon, who saw a market for a professional football league that would play in the summer, when the National Football League and college football were in their off-season. Cory Jerome Aldridge (born June 13, 1979) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Braves and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for the Nexen Heroes. Career Aldridge played in eight games for the Braves in the season. He had no hits in five at-bats, with four strikeouts. The 1980 San Francisco 49ers season was the franchise's 31st season in the National Football League and their 35th overall. This was both Bill Walsh's and Joe Montana's second season with the team.
