Jens F. Ryland
Jens Fredrik Ryland (born 5 May 1974) is a Norwegian guitarist most notable for his work with the progressive metal band Borknagar. He is known also for being the founder of the Inferno Festival in Oslo. Biography Jens was born in Narvik Municipality, Norway and grew up in Evenes Municipality. His first instrument was the piano before he moved on to guitar at the age of 10. First band experience was through the local youth club which led to the first concert already at the age of 14 in front of 400 kids at the festival Rock Mot Rus March 1989. In 1991, he and some friends formed Gangland, a '70s and '80s hard rock cover band. They did several gigs in the two-year period they were together, among these performing at Rock Mot Rus both in 1992 and- 93. The band was disbanded as Jens joined the airforce. Narvik (town)
or is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town and the administrative centre of Narvik Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The town is located along the Ofotfjorden in the Ofoten region. The town lies on a peninsula located between the Rombaken fjord and the Beisfjorden. ''Universal'' is the eighth studio album by Norwegian progressive metal band Borknagar. It marks the return of guitarist Jens F. Ryland. The band's former vocalist Simen "ICS Vortex" Hestnæs performs vocals on the track "My Domain". The album was intended to be released in the fall of 2009, but the release date was postponed as a result of a label decision. It was released on 22 February 2010 in four formats: a regular jewelcase CD, a limited digipack which includes a bonus disc, a CD box with extras, and a gatefold LP with double vinyl. Borknagar is a Norwegian progressive metal band with black metal and Folk metal, folk influences. It was founded in Bergen, Norway, Bergen in 1995 by Øystein Garnes Brun primarily as a black metal band before later switching to a more melodic and progressive style. Borknagar's lyrics often deal with philosophy, paganism, nature and the Universe, cosmos. The band has released twelve studio albums. History Borknagar was founded by Øystein Brun, then a member of the Norwegian death metal band Molested, when he became tired of the brutal aspects of the band's music. Released on 26 March 2012, it is the first album to feature Simen "ICS Vortex" Hestnæs and Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund sharing lead vocals.
