Jenny Horton
Helen Jennifer Horton (née Pritchard, born 1938) is a former English badminton player. Badminton career Born Helen Jennifer Pritchard she first competed as Pritchard when she won the mixed doubles title at the 1964 All England Open Badminton Championships, with Tony Jordan. In addition she won the German Open in 1964. After marrying fellow international player David Horton in 1965 she competed as Jenny Horton and won the U.S. Open Badminton Championships and the South African Championships in 1965 and from 1966 to 1968 won four titles at the Scottish Open. Angela Bairstow
Angela Bairstow (1942–2016) was an English international badminton player. Early life She lived on Plough Lane, in Purley. She attended Dinorben School, a private girls school, on Woodcote Lane (A237) in Wallington. Badminton career She first came to prominence in 1958 when she won the English National Junior singles title. Further wins followed in 1959 and 1960; in addition she won four English National Junior doubles titles. After the step up to senior competition she reached the final of the 1963 All England Badminton Championships singles losing out to Judy Hashman. In 1963 at the All England Championships she was seeded to win in the Singles, Doubles and the Mixed. Ulla Rasmussen
Ulla Strand (21 March 1943 – 7 August 2007), born as Ulla Rasmussen, was badminton player of Denmark who excelled from the early 1960s to the early 1970s. Though she won three Danish national singles titles and reached the women's singles final at the All-England Championships in 1965, most of her major championship victories were in doubles (often with her sister Karin Jorgensen) and mixed doubles. Attractive and charismatic, she was a crowd favorite throughout her career. She was included in the Badminton Hall of Fame in 1999. Ulla Strand died in 2007 after a long illness. Sue Peard
Susan Devlin Peard (born 1931) is an American-Irish former badminton player who represented both the US and Ireland in international competition. She is the daughter of J. Frank Devlin, an Irish badminton great, who moved his family to the United States in the late 1930s. She is the older sister of Judy Devlin Hashman, with whom she won numerous international women's doubles championships, including six titles at the prestigious All-England Championships (1954, 1956, 1960, 1961, 1963, 1966). Career The Devlin sisters won a record ten United States women's doubles titles between 1953 and 1966. They also formed a doubles pairing that won all of its individual matches for the world champion U.S. Uber Cup (women's international) teams of 1957 and 1960. Irish Open (badminton)
The Irish International or Irish Open in badminton is an international open held in Ireland since 1902 and is thereby one of the oldest badminton tournaments in the world. It was however interrupted by the two World Wars. This tournament is currently a part of the European Badminton Circuit and takes place at the end of November every year as part of the home nations loop of international tournaments that include the Scottish Open (badminton), Scottish Open and the Welsh Open in consecutive weeks. The tournament for most part and in recent years has been an International Challenge rated event. The recent exception was in 2012, 2017 & 2018 when the tournament was downgraded to International Series due to funding. Recent editions have been held in the Baldoyle Badminton Centre except for 2007 and 2011 tournaments which were held in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Roger J Mills (1942–2020) was a former English international badminton player and coach. Badminton career Mills won 9 English National titles, Singles three years running, 1965, 1966, and 1967, Men's Doubles 1967 and 1970 plus Mixed Doubles 1965, 1968, 1969 and 1971.
