Jennifer Sakai
Jennifer Sakai is a fine art photographer, and university professor at American University. Jennifer is the winner of the Prix Virginia, the Biennial International Prize for Photography for women. In 2024, she received the Prix Virginia for her series ''When We Return Home''. She was awarded this honor in France in 2024. She is also 2024 winner of an Aperture Foundation Creator Lab Prize for her photography practice. Biography She teaches in the MFA program at American University. Works Sakai has published as an artist and curator. Her work was featured in M Magazine for ''Le Monde'' issue No.698 with interview by: Claire Guillot for her project "When We Return Home" which details her Japanese family and their time in Poston War Relocation Center during World War two and their post war life combined with images from her photographic practice. Corcoran Gallery Of Art
The Corcoran Gallery of Art is a former art museum in Washington, D.C., that is now the location of the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, a part of the George Washington University. Founded in 1869 by philanthropist William Wilson Corcoran, the gallery was one of the earliest public art museums in the United States. It held an important collection that became concentrated in American art. In 1890, it started its art school. Its Beaux-Arts style building on The Ellipse was opened in 1897. Artsy, formally known as Art.sy Inc is a New York City based online art brokerage. Its main business is developing and hosting website for numerous galleries as well as selling art for them. It utilizes a search engine and database to draw connections and map relationships among works of art. The brokerage was founded by Carter Cleveland, a Princeton University computer science graduate. It is currently led by Jeffrey Yin, who was appointed CEO in June 2024. Somerset House
Somerset House is a large neoclassical architecture, neoclassical building complex situated on the south side of the Strand, London, Strand in central London, overlooking the River Thames, just east of Waterloo Bridge. The Georgian era quadrangle is built on the site of a Tudor period, Tudor palace ("Old Somerset House") originally belonging to the Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, Duke of Somerset. The present Somerset House was designed by William Chambers (architect), Sir William Chambers, begun in 1776, and was further extended with Victorian era outer wings to the east and west in 1831 and 1856 respectively. ''W'' (or ''W Magazine'') is an American fashion magazine that was launched in 1972 as a sister publication to ''Women's Wear Daily''. The magazine features stories about style through the lens of art, celebrity, culture, fashion and film.
