Jefferson House, Columbo
Jefferson House is the ambassadorial residence in Colombo for the Ambassador of the United States in Sri Lanka. It was built in 1914 in the Cinnamon Gardens a suburb of Colombo. Once the home of Hon. Justice V. M. Fernando, Judge of the Supreme Court of Ceylon, it was purchased by the Government of the United States in 1948, for the use of its Ambassador to Ceylon and it was named after Thomas Jefferson. Monticello
Monticello ( ) was the primary residence and plantation of Thomas Jefferson, a Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the United States. Jefferson began designing Monticello after inheriting land from his father at the age of 14. Located just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, in the Piedmont region, the plantation was originally , with Jefferson using the forced labor of enslaved black people for extensive cultivation of tobacco and mixed crops, later shifting from tobacco cultivation to wheat in response to changing markets. Due to its architectural and historic significance, the property has been designated a National Historic Landmark. In 1987, Monticello and the nearby University of Virginia, also designed by Jefferson, were together designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Joe Jefferson Clubhouse
The Joe Jefferson Clubhouse is a rustic clubhouse located at 29 East Saddle River Road in the borough of Saddle River in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The log building was built in 1925 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 29, 1986, for its significance in architecture and entertainment. With accompanying 2 photos. It was listed as part of the Saddle River Multiple Property Submission (MPS). History and description The property, known as "The Ponds", was purchased by the actor Joe Jefferson in 1874. After his death, five men purchased the property and formed a fishing club named after Jefferson. The clubhouse was built in 1925 from local chestnut logs and retains its original rustic furniture.
