Jeff Van Camp Sr.
Jeff Van Camp Sr. (born April 3, 1962) is an American police officer and retired professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Association and Southeast Championship Wrestling in the mid-1980s under his real name and the ring name Lord Humongous. Early life Van Camp attended the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, studying criminal justice. He played American football for the Louisville Cardinals as a defensive end in 1980 and 1981. His football career ended after he suffered a knee injury. During his football career, Van Camp worked part-time as a security guard at the Louisville Gardens. During a show by the professional wrestling promotion Continental Championship Wrestling, his large frame impressed several of the wrestlers, and promoter Jerry Lawler invited him to come to the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee, to train as a professional wrestler. Lord Humongous
Lord Humongous is a professional wrestling character also known as a "gimmick" that was originally introduced in Memphis' Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in 1984. The character was based on a gang leader called "the Humungus" or at times "Lord Humungus" from the 1981 movie '' Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior''. The original Lord Humongous was portrayed by Mike Stark, who was tall and physically impressive like the character in the movie. Since Lord Humongous always wears a Hockey mask it allowed promoters to replace the man under the mask without having to publicly acknowledge that it was someone else playing the part. The character became a recurring gimmick on the CWA but was also used in other promotions after the CWA closed. A professional wrestling promotion is a company or business that regularly performs shows involving professional wrestling that has little relationship to the rules of the amateur olympic form. Michael McCord (born October 26, 1949) is an American retired professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Austin Idol. He is best known for his appearances in the Mid-South with the Continental Wrestling Association, in particular his recurring feud with Jerry Lawler. Bobby Cash (born October 22, 1947) is an American semi-retired professional wrestler. He competed primarily in promotions operated by the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), like the Continental Wrestling Association and Georgia Championship Wrestling. NWA Alabama Heavyweight Championship
The NWA Alabama Heavyweight Championship was created in October, 1962. Since its creation, the championship has been defended in a number of NWA territories throughout the decades. Initially, the title was a part of Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling (GCCW) and later Southeastern Championship Wrestling (SECW), which became Continental Championship Wrestling (CCW) in 1985. It is unclear exactly when the championship moved to SCW/CCW, however it was sometime between December 1977 and November 1980. The title stayed there until CCW left the NWA to join the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in 1988. The championship was then shortly picked up by Alabama Pro Wrestling (APW - now NWA Xtreme) as its major title in May 2001. Ronald Welch (born March 3, 1948) is a retired professional wrestler and manager better known by his ring names Ron Fuller and Tennessee Stud. He is the elder brother of Robert Fuller ("Col. John Steele Hill (July 8, 1941 – March 10, 2010) was a Canadian professional wrestler best known under the ring names Guy Mitchell, The Stomper and "Gentleman" Jerry Valiant.
