Jeff Schroeder
Jeffrey Kim Schroeder (born February 4, 1974) is an American musician. He is best known as a former guitarist in the alternative rock band the Smashing Pumpkins, performing with them from 2007 to 2023. He recorded five studio albums with the band, from 2012's ''Oceania'' to 2022's ''Atum''. After bandleader Billy Corgan, and longtime drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, Schroeder is the third-longest-serving member of the group. Initially replacing co-founder James Iha, Schroeder made his live debut with the Smashing Pumpkins on May 22, 2007, in Paris, France, as the band embarked on an extensive comeback tour in support of the album ''Zeitgeist''. After the tour's completion, Schroeder became a core member of the band and was described by Corgan as a key collaborator on the subsequent albums ''Oceania'' (2012) and '' Monuments to an Elegy'' (2014). Nicole Margaret Fiorentino (born April 7, 1979) is an American bass guitarist. She is best known for her work with alternative rock bands Veruca Salt and The Smashing Pumpkins. In both bands, she played as a touring member before contributing to albums. She replaced Eva Gardner of Veruca Salt before recording 2006's '' IV''. Mike Byrne (musician)
Michael William Byrne (born February 6, 1990) is an American drummer who was a member of the rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. When Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan called for rehearsals to replace Jimmy Chamberlin, Byrne auditioned and was chosen out of thousands of applicants. He played drums in Sky Saxon tribute band Spirits in the Sky for six shows in August 2009, along with Corgan, Kerry Brown (musician), Kerry Brown, Kevin Dippold, Mark Tulin, Linda Strawberry, Ysanne Spevack, Mark Weitz, and Dave Navarro, and also performs drums on the Pumpkins project, ''Teargarden by Kaleidyscope''. As a part of ''Teargarden'', Byrne contributed drumming duties on ''Oceania (The Smashing Pumpkins album), Oceania'', the Pumpkins' eighth full-length album. Ginger A. Pooley ( Reyes, born April 22, 1977) is an American musician. She was the bassist and backing vocalist for the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins from 2007 to 2010. She has played bass for Gwen Stefani, Lea Michele and Garbage, and was part of the female punk band the Halo Friendlies. Reyes has released solo music under the name Ginger Sling. Early life and education Reyes was born in Chicago, Illinois, of Peruvian ancestry. She has had a long musical career, playing in bands and writing songs since her freshman year in high school. "That's the Way (My Love Is)" is a song written by Billy Corgan and performed by The Smashing Pumpkins on their album ''Zeitgeist''. "That's the Way (My Love Is)" is the second, and final, commercial single from the album, and was released to radio in August 2007, with a retail single in September. The song was played live on the ''Late Show with David Letterman'' on July 13, 2007. Billy Corgan commented that the song initially sounded like an outtake from 1995's ''Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness'', but it was slowed down and given a different drum beat in the course of recording the song. "Tarantula" is a song by The Smashing Pumpkins. It is the first single from their seventh album, ''Zeitgeist'', and their first release since their 2006 reunion. Release and structure Billy Corgan mentioned during a concert of June 5 in Berlin that "Tarantula" was titled in honor of the German rock band Scorpions, with whom Corgan had recently collaborated on the Scorpions song "The Cross". The intro and the outro of the song are inspired by the song "Dark Lady" of Scorpions, while Corgan stated that he wrote the solo of the song thinking how Uli Jon Roth could have played it. Noise Pop
Noise pop is a subgenre of alternative and indie rock that developed in the mid-1980s in the United Kingdom and United States. It is defined by its mixture of dissonant noise or feedback with the songcraft more often found in pop music. Shoegaze, another noise-based genre that developed in the 1980s, drew from noise pop.
