Jeff Mermelstein (born 1957) is an American photojournalist and street photographer, known for his work in New York City. Life and work Mermelstein lives in Greenwood Heights, Brooklyn, New York. Using the camera on an iPhone, he made a series of photographs of messages on people's phone screens in New York City. He began the series in October 2017 and published it periodically on Instagram, then as the book ''#nyc'' in 2020. European Publishers Award For Photography
__NOTOC__ The European Publishers Award for Photography was run for 22 years by a number of European publishers, who simultaneously published a photobook of each year's winning portfolio in their own languages. The award was for work on a particular subject that had not previously been published as a book. In its later years it was open to photographers anywhere: European nationality or residence was not required. The award began in 1994 with six publishers. At the time of its apparent end in 2015, two publishers, Dewi Lewis (Britain) and Peliti Associati (Italy) had participated every year since the start. In Germany, Edition Braus published the award-winner from 1994 until 2010 (in 1998 and 1999, as Umschau Braus); Kehrer Verlag took over in 2011. In France, Marval published the winner from 1994 to 1996, in 1997 and 1998, and Actes Sud thereafter. ''Street Photography Now'' is a survey book of contemporary street photography, edited by Sophie Howarth and Stephen McLaren and published by Thames & Hudson in 2010. Stephen McLaren (photographer)
Stephen McLaren is a Scottish photographer, writer, and curator, based in Los Angeles. He has edited various photography books published by Thames & Hudson—including '' Street Photography Now'' (2010)—and produced his own, ''The Crash'' (2018). He is a co-founder member of Document Scotland. McLaren's work has been shown at FACT in Liverpool as part of the Look – Liverpool International Photography Festival and in Document Scotland group exhibitions at Impressions Gallery, Bradford and at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh. His work is held in the collection of the University of St Andrews. David Campany (born 8 October 1967) is a British writer, curator, artist and educator, working mainly with photography. He has written and edited books; contributed essays and reviews to other books, journals, magazines and websites; curated photography exhibitions; given public lectures, talks and conference papers; had exhibitions of his own work; and been a jury member for photography awards. He has taught photographic theory and practice at the University of Westminster, London. Campany is Managing Director of Programs at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Actes Sud is a French publishing house based in Arles. It was founded in 1978 by author Hubert Nyssen. By 2013, the company, then headed by Nyssen's daughter, Françoise Nyssen, had an annual turnover of 60 million euros and 60 staff members. Dewi Lewis
Dewi Lewis (born 10 March 1951) is a Welsh publisher and curator of photography. Career In 1975, Lewis was the founding director of the Bury Metropolitan Arts Association which operates the Met. Lewis also founded and was the first director of Cornerhouse, an arts centre in Manchester, England. Lewis was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society in 2004 and was awarded the Society’s inaugural RPS Award for Outstanding Service to Photography in 2009. In 2012, the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation presented him with an award for Outstanding Contribution to Photography Publishing.
