Capitalist Piglet
''Capitalist Piglet'' was a comic strip that appeared briefly in ''The Sheaf'' during 2005–2006, and is best known for a controversial installment depicting Jesus Christ performing fellatio on a cartoon pig. Creation The strip was a collaboration between cartoonist Mark Watson (aka Marq) and Jeff MacDonald (aka Y!ph) and appeared infrequently in The Sheaf, the University of Saskatchewan students' newspaper. Controversy Background In the February 22, 2006, issue of ''The Sheaf'', pages B1-B4 of the issue were devoted to several lengthy opinion articles and letters addressing the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy. ''The Sheaf'' editor-in-chief, Will Robbins, wrote a 1,000-word editorial prefacing the other opinions outlining the reasons behind ''The Sheafs editorial decision not to publish any of the controversial cartoons. Redd Kross
Redd Kross is an American Rock music, rock band from Hawthorne, California, who had their roots in 1978 in a punk rock band called the Tourists, which was started by brothers Jeff and Steven Shane McDonald, Steve McDonald while Steve was still in middle school. With the addition of friends Greg Hetson and John Stielow on drums, the band's first gig was opening for Black Flag (band), Black Flag. The band has since released eight albums and three EPs. Career Red Cross In April 1979, the band had their first practice in the living room of original drummer, John Stielow's parent's home. They eventually changed the band name to Red Cross, which was allegedly inspired by the masturbation scene in the film ''The Exorcist (film), The Exorcist''. They soon began working on their 1980 debut Red Cross (EP), self-titled EP. Eventually, Hetson left to join the Circle Jerks (and later Bad Religion) and Reyes left for Black Flag (band), Black Flag. The 2012 Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel was held from November 9 to 11 at the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay, Ontario as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. The event was held in a round robin format. The purse for the men's event was CAD$15,000, of which the winner, Al Hackner, received CAD$5,000, and the purse for the women's event was CAD$6,000.
