Jeff Browning
Jeff Browning is an American ultramarathon runner and coach. After moving to Bend, Oregon, Browning transitioned from mountain biking to ultrarunning, and has since won more than two dozen 100 mile races. Previously a graphic designer, Browning has been a professional runner and coach since 2017. He was listed as one of the top 10 ultrarunners of the year by ''Ulrarunning Magazine'' in 2019, 2021, and 2022, and is the oldest runner ever to be included in these awards. He attributes his success and longevity in the sport to not only a high volume of running, but an additional focus on cross training, strength and mobility work, and adherence to a low carb, high fat diet. An ultramarathon, also called ultra distance or ultra running, is any footrace longer than the traditional marathon length of . Tarawera Ultramarathon
Tarawera Ultramarathon is a trail running event which includes a 21km, 50km, 102km and a 100-mile ultramarathon trail race, with the inaugural even held in 2009, it is part of the Ultra-Trail World Tour. It is held annually in February and takes place in Rotorua, New Zealand. Awards are given to top men and women finishers in each category. The race was created by Paul Charteris. Event history The inaugural race was over an 85km distance and was won by New Zealanders, Kerry Suter and Jean Beaumont. Kerry backed up his 2009 win with a further win in 2010, this time over a new distance, 100km. In 2017 the 100km race was extended by 2km to a complete distance of 102km. In 2018 the inaugural 100 mile race was added to the event and was won by Frenchman Adrian Prigent and American Sally McRae. The 2023 edition is hosted as part of the UTMB World Series. Bighorn Trail Run is an ultramarathon trail running event held annually in the Bighorn National Forest of Wyoming. Founded in 1993, it has several distances including , , , and . Race course and description Bighorn is an out-and-back course. The 100 begins and ends near Dayton, Wyoming, and then passes through the Bighorn Mountains. The 52 mile race begins at the turnaround point for the 100. Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run
The Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run is an ultramarathon that traverses the Wasatch and Bear River Ranges west of Bear Lake, from Logan, Utah to Fish Haven, Idaho. With of climb and an average elevation of , it is one of the more difficult ultramarathons. Even so, runners of all skill are attracted to it, largely because of its 36-hour time limit and laid-back attitude (all of the race directors and assistants have participated in the race, and some participate every year). The run is held on the Friday and Saturday before the last full weekend in September. This normally augurs warm fall days and cool nights in spectacular fall color, hence the run's motto "36 Hours of Indian Summer."
