Willys-Overland Jeepster
The Jeepster is an automobile originally produced by Willys-Overland Motors from 1948 until 1950. It was developed to fill a gap in the company's product line, crossing over from their "utilitarian" proto SUVs and trucks to the passenger automobile market. The Jeepster initially included numerous deluxe features and interior fittings in addition to a high level of standard equipment that cost extra on other automobiles. A total of almost 20,000 were manufactured. The Jeepster name was revived in 1966 on a new model, the C-101 Jeepster Commando. Background After World War II, Jeep trademark owner, Willys (pronounced "WILL-iss"), began producing and marketing the "CJ" (for Civilian Jeep) to farmers, foresters, and others with similar utilitarian needs. Jeepster Commando
The Jeepster Commando is a compact-sized recreational vehicle produced by Kaiser Jeep from 1966 until 1971 and American Motors Corporation (AMC) from 1971 through 1973. It followed the concept of the original 1948 through 1951 Willys-Overland Jeepster. The new Jeepster Commando was available in several body styles, including pickup truck, convertible, roadster, and two-door wagon. Following the acquisition of Jeep by American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1970, the vehicle underwent a redesign for the 1972 model year, featuring new front-end styling, longer wheelbase, and AMC engines, and was renamed the Jeep Commando. Chinkara Motors, officially Chinkara Motors PVT Ltd, was a Mumbai, Maharashtra-based automotive manufacturer. Chinkara operated from 2003 to 2016. The company was headquartered in Alibag, Maharashtra. They had a host of prominent customers, including Gautam Singhania. Chinkara created a unique fleet of sportscars called Parx Roadsters for Singhania. History Shama Bothe and her German husband Guido Bothe founded Chinkara Motors in order to build sport cars. Jeepster (song)
"Jeepster" is a song by English glam rock band T. Rex. It was released on 5 November 1971 by record label Fly as a single from the group's sixth studio album (and second as T. Rex) ''Electric Warrior''. The B-side, "Life's a Gas", is taken from the same album. Several artists have recorded cover versions of it. Both of the single's tracks were written by Marc Bolan and produced by Tony Visconti. The music (and first couple of lines) of "Jeepster" is based on a Howlin' Wolf blues song called "You'll Be Mine," which was written by Willie Dixon. In interviews, T. Rex leader Marc Bolan acknowledged that he "lifted it from a Howlin' Wolf song." Release Originally, "Jeepster" and "Life's a Gas" were pressed up together on 7-inch vinyl as a limited edition promotional disc for ''Electric Warrior''.
