Jean-Michel Roux
Jean-Michel Roux (born 8 May 1964 in Nancy, France) is an autodidactic script-writer and film-maker. Biography Jean-Michel Roux began his career with films in the fantasy genre and also science fiction films. Passionate about the mysteries of life and the invisible world, he went on to direct documentary films in Northern European countries. ''The Thousand Wonders of the Universe'' has received Jury prizes at The Swedish Fantastic Film Festival in Malmo and at the Fantafestival in Rome and ''Investigation into the Invisible World'' has been selected at the Sundance Film Festival for best documentary. ''Angel of the North'', a documentary on the human soul, angels and the beyond, was released in theatres in Finland. It was nominated for the best feature documentary category at the Jussi Awards 2018 (the Finnish Oscars). Lund International Fantastic Film Festival
The Lund International Fantastic Film Festival ( sv, Fantastisk Filmfestival, abbreviated FFF or LIFFF) is a popular film festival in Lund in southern Sweden that mainly shows fantasy, science fiction and horror films. LIFFF is the largest fantastic/genre film festival in Scandinavia. In 2015 the festival is broken up into two parts, the first part taking place in Malmö 22—27 September, and the main festival part is held in Lund 22—31 October. Venues The festival office and the ticket registers are located in the Lund city hall. Most of the screenings during the main festival in October, as well as the year-round previews, take place in Lund, mainly in the cinemas Kino and SF, while the screenings in September take place in the Malmö cinema Spegeln. The Mostra internazionale del film di fantascienza e del fantastico (English: ''International Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Show''), commonly known as Fantafestival, is a film festival devoted to science fiction, fantasy and horror film that has been held annually in Italy since 1981. Fantafestival takes place every year in the first part of summer in Rome. In the past years, while maintaining its headquarters in Rome, some editions were held in contemporary in different Italian cities like Milan, Naples, Genoa, Verona, Parma and Ravenna. ''Investigation into the Invisible World'' (french: Enquête sur le monde invisible) is a 2002 French documentary film directed by Jean-Michel Roux. The film surveys the belief in paranormal phenomena among the population of Iceland. Summary Several Icelanders are interviewed and say they used to play with elves as children. Mediums sometimes contact the Icelandic Road Administration when a planned road crosses a known elf site, and the agency takes measures to not cause problems for the elves. The seismologist Ragnar Stefánsson argues that the elf phenomenon can be understood as a way to cope with Iceland's geology and volcanic activity. The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961.
