Jean-Maurice Rouquette
Jean-Maurice Rouquette (1930 – 22 January 2019) was a French historian, specializing in ancient and Romanesque Provence, and curator at the Musée de l'Arles et de la Provence antiques. Biography Rouquette studied at Aix-Marseille University, where he was a student under Georges Duby and Jean-Rémy Palanque. He was particularly interested in paleochristian and Romanesque Provence studies. He was the curator of Musées et Monuments d’Arles from 1956 to 1996. Rouquette served as president of the Museon Arlaten Autonomous Committee, president of the Académie d'Arles, and designer and chief curator of Musée de l'Arles et de la Provence antiques. Rencontres D'Arles
The Rencontres d'Arles (formerly called ''Rencontres internationales de la photographie d'Arles'') is an annual summer photography festival founded in 1970 by the Arles photographer Lucien Clergue, the writer Michel Tournier and the historian Jean-Maurice Rouquette. The Rencontres d'Arles has an international reputation for showing material that has never been seen by the public before. In 2015, the festival welcomed 93,000 visitors; in 2016, the 100,000 visitor mark was reached. Specially designed exhibitions, often organised in collaboration with French and foreign museums and institutions, take place in various historic sites. Some venues, such as 12th-century chapels or 19th-century industrial buildings, are open to the public throughout the festival. Parc Naturel Régional De Camargue
The Parc naturel régional de Camargue is a protected area which was designated in 1970 along the shoreline of the Camargue, France. The park protects a wetland environment and an adjacent marine area. The boundaries of the park have been expanded to include a lagoon called the Étang de Vaccarès. The Camargue is also the site of a national nature reserve, and has been designated by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. Twinning The park is twinned with a Spanish wetland, the Doñana National Park at the mouth of the Guadalquivir. Museon Arlaten ("Arles Museum" in Provençal dialect of Occitan language, Occitan) is a museum dedicated to the ethnography of Provence.
