Jean-Loup Rouyer
Jean-Loup Rouyer (4 August 1945 - 28 December 2007) was a professional tennis player from France. Biography Born in Remiremont, Rouyer began playing tennis at the age of 12. He was a graduate of the École Polytechnique in 1965. Tennis career Rouyer represented the France Davis Cup team in three doubles rubbers, which all came in the 1970 Davis Cup competition with Jean-Baptiste Chanfreau, against Switzerland, Austria and Spain. They won two of those matches, over the Swiss pairing of Dimitri Sturdza/Matthias Werren and Austrians Hans Kary/ Peter Pokorny. In 1971 he made the quarter-finals of Grand Prix tournaments in Catania and Eastbourne, then in 1972 reached further quarter-finals at the Italian Open in Rome and the Suisse Open Gstaad. Stanley Roger Smith (born December 14, 1946) is an American former professional tennis player. A world No. 1 player and two-time major singles champion (at the 1971 US Open and 1972 Wimbledon Championships), Smith also paired with Bob Lutz to create one of the most successful doubles teams of all-time. In 1970, Smith won the inaugural year-end championships title. In 1972, he was the year-end world No. 1 singles player. The Italian Open () is an annual professional tennis tournament held in Rome, Italy. It is played on clay courts at the Foro Italico, and is held during the second week of May. The tournament is part of the ATP 1000 events on the ATP Tour and part of the WTA 1000 events on the WTA Tour. The two events were combined in 2011. The ITF Grand Prix Circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players founded in 1970 as the ILTF Grand Prix Tennis Circuit it was administered by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and ran annually until 1989 when it and the rival WCT Circuit were replaced by a single world wide ATP Tour. Peter Pokorny (born 25 July 1940) is a former professional Austrian tennis player who was active in the 1960s and 1970s. His best singles result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the 1971 French Open after a first round win against Bob Giltinan. In the second round he lost to Nicola Pietrangeli in four sets. At Wimbledon he qualified for the main singles draw in 1966, 1969 and 1973 but did not manage to make it past the first round. Dimitri Sturdza (born 10 November 1938), also known as Tim Sturdza, is a Swiss former professional tennis player. Early life and ancestry Born in Iași, he is the son of Prince Gheorghe Sturdza (born 1912) and his Norwegian wife, Margareta Kvaal. By birth, he is a member of the House of Sturdza, powerful Romanian aristocratic family that later settled in Lausanne, Switzerland.
